Disregard any mention of PWars in this section as they no longer exist due to the introduction of mitril

Here is a little info on OSFs & How to be one.

There are a few ways you can be an osf. You can do it with builds that are not completely all spy too. However it is easiest to do when you are full spy. Basically the OSF works because you still have troops out, plus gold (any ammount will allow a hit). The mechanics of an OSF are quite simple, regardless of how much gold the OSF has out the players that hits still gets their attack gold + their ally bonus gold. If the OSF uses a build that is not entirely spy the optimal way to operate is for them to run all their troops out on somebody, then allow people to hit them. The reason for this is simple... few or no troops = maximum chance of success for the attacking player, if the OSF does not kill their troops then the chances of a successful attack from the attacker drops. This is why full spy builds and hansels make the preferable OSFs.

To OPEN your OSF there are a few things you can do. You can either drop pots or get out a lot of gold. Most smaller OSFs use the drop method where they invest all their spare gold in the cheapers spy defense pots (Potions). By selling them one at a time as hits come in they lose less than 1k gold for the gain in millions to the attacker. These pots cost 1250 so it is a very economic way to run an OSF. The downside to this method is that you must be online the entire time you are open. The other way to open, getting out a lot of gold, can be achieved in a few ways. Either the OSF can sell a large amount of the more expensive pots, or they can invest in expensive allies with rediculously small stats and either drop them or have them bought by other players. The gold comes out in the hundreds of millions and even billions. The problem is that it doesnt last very long as the more gold you have out the more you lose per hit. Usually the biggest OSFs run like this as they are already BC and will make the gold back at the end of the pwar.

If an OSF comes up DTW (Defender Too Weak) there are a number of reasons:

- There is 0 gold out for the OSF
- There is less than 20% spies & if the OSF has any attack buildings there is less than 20% troops as well
- You are not in a pwar (Plunder War) and the osf is less than 30% of your build

If you are not in a pwar and you get the message "Opponent Too Strong" then you are just too small to hit the OSF you are trying to hit.

If you are interested in turning yourself into an OSF or creating a new account to become an OSF wall other OSFs that are huge and talk to them, most OSFs are very willing to teach others how to do it as they realize that the purpose is to help the players with attack builds get stronger quicker.

If you have any other questions or dont understand any of this please just post here and i will try my best to either answer your query or point you in the direction of somebody who will know the answer.

OAF is the same but opposite, they open for spy builds and are primarily attack builds... same mechanics apply to all other aspects of them.
